Vote for a Lighthouse

Jeld-Wen is continuing it's Reliable Lighthouse Restoration Initiative this year with a selection of 12 lighthouses to choose from on it's website. The contest was designed to prove the reliability of their windows and doors — even in coastal climates — by helping to save historic lighthouses for local communities. This is the fourth year for the contest, the first three winners (before and after pictures below) are the Wind Point Lighthouse in Wisconsin, the Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse in Maryland, and the Umpqua River Lighthouse in Oregon. Vote for your favorite lighthouse in your home state, or favorite vacation lighthouse here. Of course we were excited to vote for The Grand Traverse Lighthouse right here in Michigan!

A greener marketing campaign?

Not always recognized for being green, McDonald's is aiming to change that reputation with their latest round of billboard advertising. To get the point across that their salads are “really fresh”, McDonalds hired ad-maker Leo Burnett to deliver the message. These living wall style billboards grow lettuce over time to form the words "Fresh Salads". No word on whether or not the lettuce will be harvested from way up there, but maybe using spaces like this to grow some green may be on the uptrend.

Viral Marketing... Will it Blend?

The "Will it Blend?" viral marketing videos have created a phenomenon on YouTube and are rated as one of the Top 5 Viral Marketing Videos. What is even more amazing is that these campaigns have increased Blendtec's sales of their blender to a five-fold increase with numbers now reaching into the millions. The most popular episode is the iPhone and yes - it does blend!
