ICFF - Show in Review

Lots of pictures from ICFF today, so read on for a great show wrap up. We loved the large, dimensional circles on this piece from Herman Miller. It gives it so much texture to the piece, you just want to touch! 3Form, the manufacturers of eco-resin, had lots of nature inspired looks that could be used just about anywhere in the home.

duduc is always fun and this year was no exception - we love this playful child's bed with functional storage and fun chalkboard footboard.

In keeping with the fun and functional children's furniture theme - the Stylewood play table from Bloom fits together neatly (looks like a loaf of Wonderbread, if you ask me!) and when the chairs are pushed back a simple slide out storage tray is revealed.

And, last but not least... There were a lot of heavy metals mixing with natural woods at the show this year. We really enjoyed these little stools from Modern Dose that look like cut logs made of European oak wrapped in digitally printed steel with a shadowy motif playing out around the base.

ICFF - Naturescast

Naturescast products are made of reclaimed dead trees, limbs, twigs and leaves found on the forest floor compressed with an eco-friendly water based binder. These great outdoor designs mean nature's cast-offs (see, we figured out the word play of their company name!) help to bring new life to the outdoors. The designs are surprisingly modern and minimalist considering all of the different types of materials used in their creation!

ICFF - Savannah College of Art & Design

As promised, today we are featuring a unique student exhibit from the Savannah College of Art & Design at ICFF entitled "Growing Hope and the Union Mission". In an innovative partnership the fibers department collaborated with the furniture design department to create a product with a sense of community involvement. They wanted to get away from the typical high brow approach to design so they turned to the Union Mission to create products for shelters to provide solutions to three different situations:

1. A single individual living on the street with no home - this product can be folded and carried on the back from place to place:
2. Subsidized housing where a person shares a room with one or two other people - this product has a privacy canopy:
3. Temporary shelters with 40-50 beds in one room, such as victims of natural disasters - these bunk beds provide places for storage and personal items:

ICFF Preview - Lisa Bengtsson

It's time to head to the Big Apple again for ICFF and some early buzz is already out there, so we thought we might post one or two new things for fun before we leave for the show. We have mentioned in previous posts that the ceiling is really becoming the fifth wall for decor and design. Lisa Bengtsson's 'roof patterns' are designs specifically intended for your ceiling. What a nice concept to replace boring, drop ceiling tiles - Beautiful!
