DIY Project: Cane Chair update

Think I will go all black gloss with my desk chair ... and get a pretty upholstered padding in a gorgeous fabric.

I'd love to go with MidcenturyJo's (Desire to Inspire) suggestion with getting a monogrammed seat as per below image... but I'm not sure how that will go with a seat that is VERY often used, I imagine it fraying very quickly.
