Prefab-ulous at the Museum!

The prefab home building boom got another boost when The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) announced a special exhibition called "Home Delivery: Fabricating the Modern Dwelling". They have commissioned 5 architects to construct their own prefab dwellings in the vacant lot on West 53rd Street, adjacent to the museum. This special exhibit aims to counter misconceptions about prefab home building and increase the awareness that they have great potential to benefit the environment. The five architects are KieranTimberlake Associates of Philadelphia; Lawrence Sass of Cambridge, Mass.; Douglas Gauthier and Jeremy Edmiston of Manhattan; Oskar Leo Kaufmann and Albert Rüf of Austria; and Richard Horden of Horden Cherry Lee in London. Some of their work is posted below. The show opens July 20th, but foundations will start being laid in February for those who want to wander by for a sneak peek!
