CLIPPING

I'm particularly inspired by the works of Chinese designers this past week. Pin & Li Decoration and Dai Yong show how a simple approach can work wonders and create a serene environment for the occupants. Ricky Wong and Yu Yue Bo, on the other hand, add a much more lavish touch to their works - to stunning effect.

The Hong Kong based designers created the interiors of the Nishimura restaurant, which is located inside the Shangri-La Hotel in Beijing, China. The highlights here are the giant semi-sphere and oval recessed features made out of numerous timber plywood sheets.

This latest image of EVO, a group of sustainably built condos on Grand Street in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, just warms my heart: a perfect example of how living green can be done stylishly and economically.

Recently I came across these works by PTang Studio, Raiser Lopes Designers and Eric Tai (Easespace).

In the case of the former, the brilliant combination of vibrant colors and contemporary graphics produces a very lively (actually I'd like to use the word 'happy') ambience within each of the 2 homes. The color-striped wall in RLD's EspressoBar is another favorite this week - I'm liking the way colors stand out in a subtle manner against the predominantly white space.

Eric Tai's showflat in Suzhou mesmerizes with its muted colour scheme and light touches of color and graphical treatment.
