Rearranging

It's been 35-45°C heat days recently and I don't like summer, much less, hothothotdays... so I try to stay indoors most of the time.

My entryway MCM cabinet was rather bare on the top and after oiling it, I thought it would be nice to start a small collection of pink vases/urns etc. I have a few already ... so after a harvesting of them, I set them on the top.



I like. Might change the colours now and then... blues... whites...

Hall cabinet

Yay! It's finally here. I've been hunting for the right hall cabinet for ages and finally, at Salvation Army, for $95.

Minutes after arrival. Hannah's already had her blocks in it. Discovered to my delight a drawer just above the blocks.


After a buff of teak oil and reorganising my stuff.


It's needing a lamp... and I would love to hang my newly painted mirror :)
But I need a home for that, because rentals only allow 3M hooks and this is heavier than the "1kg load per hook". Read More..

My entrance way

For three years now we've managed with an antique tea-trolley, a white cane table and 3/4 of a mirror in our foyer/entranceway as I searched and searched and eBay-ed for something better, some more suitable.

We finally found something...



I kinda like it, but will have to get something else for it since it doesn't really suit our needs still AND I sold off our china cabinet in the living room! Now it poorly houses our bags (bottom section) and a few keys/coins etc bits.

Recharging station

I'd like one of these. Recharging station for our digi cam, our mobile phones, iPod. They now lie unkempt on our living area dresser. I hate the sight of it. Would love a recharging station on our still-hunting foyer cabinet/sideboard.

Since we don't get Pottery Barn in Australia, I'd be willing to try a DIY version. I remember seeing some in magazines... any of you remember too or has scans/instructions for me?

Foyer, hall, entrance...

When we get home, it's great to be able to put things where they belong: shoes (we don't wear shoes in the house), keys, schrapnel, wallets, bags, more bags, shoes, letters, bills, scarves, coats, hats, shopping lists, coupons and newspapers.

At the moment, an antique tea-trolley serves that purpose.
Poorly.

So I've been looking for weeks now, for a better solution. Here are some ideas:

This one I've been seriously considering because husband needs a place to get bills paid etc. Using a well-designed and compact secretaire/bureau as entry point. I think I need the base cabinet a mix of shelves and open space for filing and other things. Drawers are great too, they make handy scarves, umbrellas and hats storage.


Would also like a place to hang coats etc. Something like this Pottery Barn offering:


This entryway centre is fantastic, offering a stylish solution to my evergrowing pile of junk that I de-junk only once a week when I can't find my lippy. (via Pottery Barn)


This is a simple yet pretty effective and chic DIY entryway that could work.. get odd table, get odd pigeonhole, add slim closet, paint it all white and walla, a GREAT functional foyer storage!

One of my favourite stores, Anthropologie, has some yummy goodies... when we were in New York I really wanted to pop into their store which we passed but we had things to see and do and go to!! Oh well... wish they had them here in Toronto or in Melbourne. :(

Wants

Luca Nichetto has created these gorgeous ceramic hook boxes. I'd love a few of these to hang around the place as great placeholders and design items!



I also have a real love of lamps. In New York, in the Sheraton room that my sister scored a fantastic deal on, they had these New York lamps. I fell in love with them. Would love to get one.



The beds we slept on in the Sheraton NY Towers on 7th Ave and 53rd St was great. I then found out that you can BUY the Sheraton Sweet Sleepers off Sheraton! Actually, anything in their bedrooms are for sale via Sheraton! Nice huh?? Not that expensive either... for a King Size, it's US$1300. Read More..
