The interior flow of our home is very open, allowing for a larger feel in a smaller space, views to the lake, ample daylighting and includes the many features we wanted in our home, such as the stainless steel fireplace and the exposed spiral ductwork.
Our home is vibrant with color, making it a high energy space and color makes us feel good. The first response of every visitor is, their eyes light up and a big grin comes across their faces. Everyone says ‘your home feels so good!’. A few people say, I love the colors, you’re so brave, I could never do this in my house’. Our color selections were intentional, with meaning behind each one, some following the rules of feng shui. The deep orange is a creative color, keeping our creative juices flowing, as well as, being in the red fire energy family for success. We chose the bold green spiral staircase is for growth, for our family and businesses. This stair was also an element my husband has always wanted in a home. The deep purple color on the wall of the Great Room is my personal favorite color and a good color for wealth and abundance.
The print fabric on the sofa was chosen to enhance the contemporary shape of the sofa it self and to bring in all the colors of our home. A lot of the furniture in my home I designed for myself and my father, Donald Beaman, built for me over the years for both my home and my offices. We chose to include no carpeting in our home, as a way to improve the indoor air quality and went with lower maintenance floor coverings in bamboo, cork and marmoluem. We have 3 cats and two dogs in our family and these floors are easy to keep clean with the traffic of our pets and visitors.
Our Kitchen pale green color was selected to high light the brightness I wanted in this space and to set off the formaldehyde free, pale birch cabinets, white concrete countertops and the KitchenAid stainless steel energy star appliances. The cabinets came with a built-in recycling center. We accented the island seating with a piece of culvert pipe, typically used in ditches, to hold the glass top. This is also the base for our Dining room table as well.
Life is a journey, not a destination, so it is important to live fully in the moment, giving yourself opportunities to shout who you are, releasing your true nature, for your own continuous enjoyment. ~ Jenny Pippin, AIBD
