Is reclaimed wood the new countertop?

We asked a lot of questions last week, so we figured one more couldn't hurt! Reclaimed wood has been the topic here on the blog for floors and even walls, but KBBGreen poses the question - Could this material be the new countertop? CraftArt has 8 new countertops made of reclaimed wood from barns, mills, river bottoms and even pickle vats dating from the 1800-1900's. The company feels that this reclaimed wood being reused is a more sustainable option than FSC hardwoods in that the reclaimed variety has already been cut, milled and taken out of the ecosystem rather than a still-standing FSC tree. Their list of reclaimed species is long and distinguished - including beech, chestnut, red oak, redwood and white oak. However, if you aren't certain reclaimed woods are for you, they also have a wide selection of the sustainable bamboo and lyptus materials for your green design.
